The Cranbury digital Camera Club Newsletter - June 2006

We have a lot of news to tell you about this month. We are very pleased to welcome our newest members and we now number 44!

***As such a large group we are outgrowing our first home and have been searching for a new, larger meeting space for a while now. We are pleased to announce that from September 2006 we will be holding our regular club meetings at the American Repertory Ballet at Princeton Ballet School, Cranbury campus. This is located at 29 N Main Street, Cranbury, and the good news is that you will park in the same parking lot as usual because the Ballet studio building is located just across from the Gourgaud Gallery and the Town Hall. We will have signs to direct you.

HOWEVER: Please note that we will be continuing to meet at the gallery for June, July and August.

Our next meeting, this coming Wednesday will be our monthly competition featuring “Flowers, a macro perspective”. Please refer to the website for competition details.

***As our introduction to our new home, we will be hosting a weekend Open House & Workshops.

We are arranging to have speakers come and teach workshops on various topics such as Color Management and Printing, Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Elements as well as How to Use Your Digital Camera, the basics, and perhaps more. We will have reps from some of the larger companies there, Epson, Nikon, Canon to name a few.

The workshops will range in price from about $25 - $50 each. The final cost will depend on number of registrations. Members will get a discounted price.

This is not meant to be a big fundraiser but more to be a service to the community as well as spotlighting the club and its aims and the Ballet School. Any money we raise will go towards the cost of chairs and tables we need to purchase for the meeting space.

***Our other big news is that Cranbury digital Camera Club  going to have it’s first Gallery Show.

We have been selected to show our juried work at the Gougaud Gallery in September 2006. There will be more details at a later date. But please note that we will be available to help you select the images you wish to enter for the show at the meetings in July, on the 12th  and 26th. Each member is encouraged to submit at least 3 images to be included in the show. The final number chosen will be determined by the number of entries. We hope every member will be represented. This is not a competition. It is a showing of our work to date. But in order to have some control over the total look of the show we ask that you bring a selection of your images to either of the July meetings and we will help you select those to be submitted for inclusion. At this time the photos do not need to be matted or framed or even printed to the full size you wish to hang.

All accepted entries will be announced by the first August meeting on the 9th and we will be having a Matting and Framing Workshop at the Open House as well as an area where you can purchase necessary supplies for matting and framing as well as being able to complete the process on site.

More news: Larry Zink will be our speaker on July 12th. Larry runs the photography studio for Macy’s. He will tell us all about his studio and how it runs as well as organizing a trip for us to see it all in action. (This was postponed from last month due to an unavoidable conflict with the last meeting date.)

Our competition theme on July 26th will be “Fireworks”.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday June 26th in the Gourgaud Gallery, Cranbury Town Hall. Please arrive by 7:15 to register your photos for the competition.
