The Cranbury digital Camera Club Newsletter - May 2006

First, to those of you who rely on my email reminders before each meeting, my apologies for not getting one out at the beginning of this month in time for the first meeting.

We had a very interesting meeting with Stanley Menscher giving us a talk on his life as a Nikon Tech rep. He told us how he was able to finally achieve his ambition of becoming an amateur photographer again after 30 years as a professional. He also gave some enlightening information on the use of flash and focus and shared many of his fascinating photos from countries around the world.

At the meeting members and guests were also asked to contribute ideas for future programs, workshops and photo shoot outings. Please submit these ideas and suggestions via email to janet@janetpaxtonphotos.com or use the note paper provided at the meeting. Thank you.

A few intrepid members of the club ventured out to Sayen Gardens in Hamilton on the first CdCC photo shoot led by Greg and Linda DeAngelis. We are looking forward to seeing the results at our Macro Flower competition meeting next month. (Macro = Close up)

Our next meeting, this coming Wednesday, May 24th, will be our monthly competition. The assigned theme this month is “Sport Action” the emphasis being on the word “Action”. We have a very experienced sport photographer, Larry Levante, coming to judge our images. Larry is a staff photographer at Rutgers University and he mainly concentrates on sport photography, especially Football and Basketball. We hope that you have been out there snapping away at all the games and tournaments that are taking place around us at the local schools, parks and stadiums. For further information on the rules and guidelines on presenting images for the competitions please refer to our website at www.CranburydigitalCameraClub.org  There is also a listing that explains what the judges generally look for in each image.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 24th May in the Gourgaud Gallery, Cranbury Town Hall. Please arrive by 7:15 to register your photos for the competition.
